School Counselor's Parent's Needs Assessment
Mission Statement
The mission of Haynie's Counseling Department is to empower students to achieve optimal success in the areas of academics, establish and maintain quality peer relationships, and explore the world of work in our community.
COUNSELING SERVICES
Counseling services in our school have been developed to assist students, teachers, and parents.
The counselor works with students on an individual basis in small groups and in classrooms to help them with questions or problems. The counselor is provided to help students gain a better understanding of themselves and to explore possible courses of action so that they may decide on the best solution for particular problems. The counselor is available to assist students with academic, behavioral, or personal problems.
The counselor is available to teachers to assist with student referrals, interpret standardized test results, and administer group tests and to help teachers better understand individual students and their problems. In addition, the counselor often serves as a contact person between special education programs and the regular classroom teacher.
The counselor also works with parents regarding student challenges and concerns. Parents may schedule appointments for test interpretation or conferences concerning the student’s school progress. The counselor is also concerned with student attendance and may contact students, parents, and/or the school social worker concerning absenteeism and tardiness.
